Community Event-Pro Skate Demo

On October 13, 2022 we hosted a community event at AMJ with local pro skaters- Marissa Martinez aka MamaSkate, Erin Wolfkila, Sean Davis, Becker Dunn, Andy, and Jiggy. There was a skate demo, raffle for prizes, and food donated from Fat Sal’s. Our pro skaters also shared personal stories about how they started skating and how they built their own businesses around skateboarding.

Skateboarding can serve as an excellent entry point for building your own business or working in the skate industry, especially if you are passionate about skateboarding and have a creative vision. Here are some potential avenues we educate our paticipants in:

1. **Skateboard Shop:** Consider starting your own skateboard shop, either as a physical store or an online business. You can sell skateboards, skateboard accessories, apparel, and other related products. Building a strong community around your shop, hosting events, and collaborating with local skaters can help attract customers and grow your business.

2. **Skateboard Brand:** If you have a flair for design and creativity, you can start your own skateboard brand. Design unique decks, graphics, and merchandise that resonate with the skateboarding community. Collaborate with local artists or skateboarders to bring distinctiveness to your brand.

3. **Skateboard Park/Training Facility:** If there's a lack of skateboard parks or training facilities in your area, consider starting one. Providing a safe and fun space for skaters to practice and improve their skills can be a great business opportunity.

4. **Skateboard Coaching/Instruction:** If you are skilled at skateboarding, consider offering coaching or instruction services to beginners or those looking to advance their skills. You can host group lessons or one-on-one sessions.

5. **Content Creation:** If you have a talent for creating engaging content, you can start a skateboarding blog, YouTube channel, or social media presence. Building a dedicated following can attract sponsorships and collaborations with skate-related companies.

6. **Event Organizer:** Organize skateboarding competitions, events, or skate tours. Hosting successful events can attract sponsors and participants, providing networking opportunities in the skate industry.

7. **Skateboard Graphics and Artwork:** If you are skilled in graphic design or art, create skateboard deck designs or custom artwork for skaters or skateboard brands.

8. **Skateboard Repair/Customization:** Offer skateboard repair services or specialize in customizing skateboards based on individual preferences.

9. **Work for Existing Skate Companies:** Look for job opportunities within established skate companies, such as marketing, design, product development, or customer service roles.
